Joost de Bruijn
Programme Director Goudappel Mobility Twin
After twenty-five years at Goudappel – half of them as Director of Dat.mobility – I have become deeply rooted in the mobility domain. Mobility plays a central role in how we shape our country and use space, and it is – quite literally – always in motion. This creates a strong demand for reliable information. With great enthusiasm and commitment, I work to meet that demand, aiming to contribute to a sustainable society in which everyone can move freely.
Innovating in this field – for example through new data sources, digital twins, and solutions based on data science, modelling and AI – is what motivates me every day. And there is plenty to be done. On the one hand, we face major societal challenges: making mobility more sustainable, ensuring accessibility for all, addressing urbanisation, protecting our natural environment, and introducing new forms of mobility. On the other hand, we face technical challenges: advancing digitalisation, embedding increasingly data-driven ways of working, and developing smart models and applications. I am fascinated by this complexity, precisely because deeper insight and strong collaboration can lead to meaningful impact.
Since 2025, I have stepped away from management to focus more strongly on innovation, collaboration and new areas of work. In my current role, I contribute to the development of the Goudappel Mobility Twin, coordinate and represent Goudappel within the DMI ecosystem, and oversee the associated large-scale Growth Fund projects. In addition, I maintain strategic relationships with businesses and research institutions in the fields of data and modelling, and I strengthen connections with relevant networks (such as Connekt), major clients and public authorities. I also act as a bridge to the geo-domain, including in my capacity as Vice-Chair of GeoBusiness Nederland.
