Nils Steinhäuser
advisor for mobility and public space
As an advisor for mobility and public space I work together with municipalities in the Netherlands and abroad to create mobility solutions for a sustainable society in which everyone can move around comfortably. My expertise lies in cycling, walking and multimodal integration with public transport. At the heart of my work is the question: how can we allocate scarce public space fairly between different modes of transport?
In my role I work closely with specialists from a wide range of disciplines, including traffic engineers, urban planners, landscape architects, behavioural scientists and data experts to develop mobility projects from a human-centred and holistic perspective. Together, we develop integrated mobility solutions for challenges related to area development, road safety and inclusive mobility, with the aim of creating accessible and liveable cities and regions.
I am involved in projects focusing on mobility plans (including SUMPs), regional development and multimodal mobility. In these projects, I bring in my knowledge and experience on cycling in the Netherlands and Germany, gained during my previous work at the Dutch Cycling Embassy.
