Goudappel joined trade mission California
Sharing Dutch knowledge in the field of sustainable and smart mobility and making valuable contacts. That was the goal of the trade mission to California from September 5 to 9, organized by the RVO and the Dutch Cycling Embassy. Goudappel was also there.
During the visit, Queen Máxima, Vivianne Heijnen (Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Water Management), Ernst Kuipers (Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport) and Robbert Dijkgraaf (Minister of Education, Culture and Science) together with several Dutch companies visited different places in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Varied program
On behalf of Goudappel, Jos van Kleef (general director) and Richard ter Avest (mobility & space advisor) attended the visit, which consisted of a varied program of seminars, excursions and exchange of knowledge, products and innovations.
Topics discussed in San Francisco included urban challenges and mobility, digital solutions and the use of infrastructure. The Bay Area is comparable to the Randstad in the Netherlands in terms of size, density and challenges for the coming years: urbanization challenge, climate change (heat stress, rising sea levels), livability, traffic safety, accessibility and equity/equity.
The trade mission continued in Los Angeles, where cycling is high on the policy and implementation agenda. Consequently, that theme was the focus of a visit to the city, which (of course) took place by bicycle.
Agreements for cooperation
The week concluded with connecting Dutch urban mobility solutions with U.S. challenges. Thus MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) were signed for more cooperation in the areas of sustainable mobility, technological innovation and electrification.
We look back on a successful visit in which we got a better view of the market in California and also found opportunities to cooperate with partner(s) there in projects. The first agreements have already been made. It was also a great opportunity to get together with some of our current (public) clients and the companies present.
