Mobility fascinates me because it involves human behaviour and technology. Especially in the field of digitalisation, developments move fast, resulting in innovations both within the mobility system and within our own work. Cooperating within the quadruple helix is very important. Both scientific research and supervising students give me energy and inspiration for innovations in the field. It is in this combination of science and practice that I am continuously working on improvements in our discipline in order to achieve a sustainable society.
Overcoming new challenges and cooperating in an innovative environment characterise my entire working period. After my PhD research, which I completed part-time at the University of Twente in the field of sustainable network-wide traffic management, I helped shape the establishment of Dat.mobility (expert in ICT solutions and data analyses around mobility - part of Goudappel). After several years of helping to build Dat.mobility and then leading our Smart Mobility programme, I started to focus entirely on innovation.
In the meantime, I am working part-time as an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, I co-chair the ICT cluster of the NECTAR network and I have worked on all kinds of innovations such as OmniTRANS Realtime and OmniTRANS Horizon. As innovation and technology director at Goudappel, I focus on all innovations of relevance to us and I'm responsible for our long-term strategies on this topic. In these times of rapid developments, I believe exactly this combination of science and practice is fantastic and extremely valuable for our organisation.
